An old place with a new spirit
The Picnick restaurant Vodník /Waterman/ is located in the romantic surroundings of the former swimming pool in the valley of Křesánovský stream on the very edge of Vimperk.
This place is a popular destination for walking not only local residents, but also visitors Vimperk. In close proximity there is a sports complex, which is snowed in winter, and therefore provides excellent snow conditions for fans of cross-country skiing, in summer you can use new in- line track. There is also space for camping and recreation in wooden two-bedroom newly equipped cottages.
Near the restaurant there is an old swimming pool, built from tank fire sprite in the years 1908 to 1909.
“It was several years after a devastating fire in the square in Vimperk in 1904, where at its disposal was not enough water from a creek bed Křesánovský stream and river Volyňka was very remote. It was one of the reasons to build fire tank water sprite,
when the city acquired on the one hand an effective tool for fighting with fires on the other hand the pool, where once people rode on boats.” Today’s restaurant is located in a building that was built by a city architect Joseph Schmidt and served as a base for visitors of swimming pool in Vimperk.
