The largest and deepest natural lake in the Czech Republic, with an area of 18.4 ha near Železná Ruda. A maximum depth of around 40 metres also makes it the deepest lake in the country. The glacial lake in Šumava National Park is one of the greatest natural attractions of the whole of Šumava.
The circuit trail around the lake offers wonderful views of the dark surface of the lake and the surrounding mountain forest. Access is from Železná Ruda or the car park at Bílá Hůrka. The route is suitable for the whole family.
