Vimperk Castle is a listed building currently undergoing extensive restoration. In 2021 the first stage of the renovation was completed, and the castle now offers three sightseeing routes (through both renovated and unrenovated areas) and new exhibitions of the Museum of Vimperk.
The castle stands on the site of the original Gothic castle from the era of King Přemysl Otakar II. It lies along the Šumava section of the Golden Trail and offers wonderful views over the town of Vimperk and the surrounding countryside.
